La exposición y performance Ordem e Progresso fueron realizadas en 2017 en el Museo MAAT (Lisboa).
Además de evocar la memoria histórico-cultural del patrimonio marítimo-fluvial portugués, el proyecto también reflexiona sobre el impacto ambiental y las consecuencias socioeconómicas resultantes de la desa- parición de la pesca artesanal, ante el crecimiento de la industria pesquera. El tema de la cultura marítima en Portugal despierta un sinfín de preguntas políticas, económicas, sociales y culturales que se extienden a la crisis de los refugiados y las políticas antimigratorias decretadas por algunas potencias europeas. En este contexto, el barco representa también el símbolo de la crisis migratoria que se vive en el Mediterráneo.
The Ordem e Progresso exhibition and performance were held in 2017 at the MAAT Museum (Lisbon). In addition to evoking the historical and cultural memory of Portugal’s maritime-fluvial heritage, the project also reflects on the environmental impact and the socioeconomic consequences resulting from the decline of artisanal fishing in the face of the growth of the fishing industry. The theme of maritime culture in Portugal raises a multitude of political, economic, social, and cultural questions, extending to the refugee crisis and the anti-immigration policies enacted by certain European powers. In this context, the boat also represents the symbol of the migratory crisis occurring in the Mediterranean.
